Coming through the ranks at Surrey, Neil Saker is a tall fast bowler and was the first Surrey Academy player to be award a professional contract. In 2005 he was a regular feature in the one-day side and took 11 wickets in as many games, while he claimed 29 victims in the seconds, becoming Surrey's top wicket-taker. Saker featured in seven County Championship matches in 2006 and showed potential as he claimed 14 wickets. He also showed form with the bat by scoring a half century against Essex. Like many other Surrey players Saker has played grade cricket in Australia. In 2004-05 he played for Randwick Petersham in Sydney, while in 2005-06 he featured for Blacktown.
