Montserrat 70 for 1(Tuit 30) beat Turks & Caicos 67 for 9 by nine wickets
Having dismissed Turks & Caicos for 67, Montserrat knocked off their target in just 7.3 overs. Dolston Tuitt set the ball rolling, hitting 30 from 19 balls, in an opening stand of 44 with Lionel Baker. Baker, unbeaten on 13, and Davon Williams, with a six over long-on to cue celebrations in the Montserrat-dominated section of the ground, finished the affair. Allen Stanford, the billionaire organiser, was present in the western side of the ground to join the fans in celebration. Earlier, Turks & Caicos' decision to bat came a cropper. Their 69 was the lowest total of the tournament, beating the previous low of 73 made by British Virgin Islands against Dominica on Sunday night. Baker, a former West Indies Under-19 fast bowler, started the slide with two wickets in his four-over burst. Aided by some sloppy running, and tight work from Trevor Semper (1 for 15), Turks & Caicos found themselves at 38 for 4, from which they never recovered. Donovan Matthews, with 25 from 35 balls, was the only batsman to reach double figures and was last out in the penultimate over. The next best score was extra with nine. McPherson Meade backed his new-ball partner with 2 for 10, but Baker was named Man of the Match for his effort, which gave him US$25,000. Semper took home the US$10,000 for Play-of-the-Day.
