Powered by a five-wicket haul from Shalika Karunanayake, Wayamba registered a facile win against Basnahira South in the inaugural inter-provincial limited-over tournament.
Choosing to bat first, Wayamba were propelled by useful contributions from the top order and posted a healthy 253. Mahela Udawatte top scored with 55 while three other batsmen crossed 40 as Wayamba moved along at a steady pace. Malinga Bandara grabbed 4 for 41 but with rest of the bowlers unable to pick wickets or keep the runs down, the going was easy for Wayamba.
The chase never took off with Karunanayake ripping through the top order and Wayamba romped home to a 127-run victory.
