The low-scoring battle in Karachi saw Sind secure a victory within two days as Sohail Khan, the right-arm fast bowler, ripped through the Baluchistan line-up with a six-wicket haul to shoot them out for 42.

Earlier, Sind managed to add only eight runs to their overnight score of 131 for 8. Faisal Iqbal, resuming on 46, fell on 52 as Baluchistan seized a 48-run first-innings lead. Tanvir Ahmed took 4 for 43, while Azharullah and Faisal Irfan chipped in with three wickets apiece as their side gained the advantage.

That advantage soon dissipated with the collapse of the Baluchistan top order; Sohail removed Nos 1-4 for 3,2,1 and 0 respectively. Anwar Ali added three wickets to his four in the first innings, and Baluchistan found themselves at an embarrassing 17 for 7. Sohail finished with 6 for 21; Danish Kaneria was the only other bowler used and in his solitary over dismissed Tanvir, who made 13 - the only double-digit score of the innings.

Sind, chasing 91, lost four wickets for 54, but Iqbal and Sarfraz Ahmed saw them to their target with no further damage. For Baluchistan, Azharullah picked up two wickets. Sind have won both their games so far in the tournament.

Federal Areas 57 for 2 (Raheem 19*, Bazid 16*) trail North West Frontier Province 573 (Alam 178*, Hameed 107, Mohmand 100, Tanvir 4-132, Ajmal 3-186) by 516 runs
Scorecard

Aftab Alam converted his overnight score of 64 to an unbeaten 178 as North West Frontier Provine amassed 573 in their first innings against Federal Areas in Karachi.

NWFP were given a solid start by the openers on day one, and had ended the day at 342 for 3. Khurram Shehzad failed to add to his tally of 53, but Alam was ably assisted by his captain Younis Khan. The two put on 97 runs for the fifth wicket, with Younis contributing 59. Younis was removed by offspinner Saeed Ajmal, and Sohail Tanvir struck twice to leave NWFP at 455 for 7.

However, the Federal Areas bowlers were made to toil some more as Nauman Habib made 40 in a 88-run stand with Alam, before falling to Tanvir. Federal Areas opener Raheel Majeed mopped up the tail by removing Fazl-e-Akbar and Waqar Ahmed as Alam was left stranded on his highest first-class score. Tanvir conceded 132 runs for his four wickets.

Waqar got back at Raheel Majeed soon when Federal Areas began their reply, and Ashar Zaidi was dismissed by Fazl-e-Akbar. Afaq Raheem and Bazid Khan were at the crease as Federal Areas finished the day trailing by 516 runs.
