Malinda Warnapura struck his maiden first-class double-century as Sri Lanka A battered Bangladesh A to take a vice-like grip on the first four day match at the Colts Cricket Club in Colombo. After declaring on an imposing 547 for 6, Sri Lanka A reduced Bangladesh A to 123 for 6 at stumps on the second day.
Resuming overnight on 335 for 2, Warnapura and Thilan Samaraweera extended their partnership to 376 before Samaraweera was dismissed for 162. Warnapura, who began the day on 177, carried on to score 242 with 28 fours and two sixes. Upul Chandana contributed a quick fire 50 to boost Sri Lanka A to 547.
Ishara Amerasinghe struck early blows by dismissing both of Bangladesh A's openers with the score on 41. Thereafter wickets feel at regular intervals as Bangladesh failed to string together large partnerships like Sri Lanka had done. They ended the day 424 short of Sri Lanka A's total with only four wickets in hand.
