Trinidad and Tobago 175 for 6 (Barath 50, Stoute 4-46) and 420 lead Barbados 184 by 411 runs Trinidad made the most of a rain-interrupted day, stretching their lead against Barbados to 411 after resuming on their overnight score of 31 for no loss at Guaracara Park. Play began half-an-hour after the scheduled 9.30 am start as Adrian Barath and William Perkins extended their opening stand to 73 before Perkins was trapped by seamer Kevin Stoute. Barath brought up his half-century, before he too returned to the pavilion, nicking Stoute to 'keeper Patrick Browne. Daren Ganga and Lendl Simmons ensured that there was no further damage before lunch as they took Trinidad to 109 for 2. But Simmons was run out for 18 after the resumption, while Ganga edged Fidel Edwards to Dale Richards at first slip. Rain forced an early tea, after which only 6.2 overs were bowled, as Stoute snared Simmons for 23 and Gibran Mohammed for 13 to finish the day as Barbados' most impressive bowler with 4 for 46.
Combined Campuses and Colleges 99 for 2 (Jackson 46) and 248 need a further 458 runs to beat Leeward Islands 418 and 386 for 5 dec (Morton 122*, Powell 99, Willett 90) Leeward Islands, aided by aggressive knocks from Runako Morton, Tonito Willett and Kieron Powell, declared their second innings at 386 for 5 to set CCC an improbable 557 for victory. By the close of play at Grove Park, CCC had lost their openers for the addition of 99 runs. Seamer Lionel Baker struck immediately after the declaration when he dismissed Omar Philips for 14, brilliantly caught by Morton at mid-on. Simon Jackson and Nikolai Parris added 52 for the second wicket before Jackson fell for 46. Parris made his way to an unbeaten 28 before stumps were drawn. Resuming on their overnight 82 for 1, Leewards lost Orlando Peters and Steve Liburd early on, but Powell, who was resuming on 52, found support from Morton as the duo took them to 193. Powell, though, fell one short of his maiden first-class century when he was caught by Floyd Reifer off offspinner Shirley Clarke. Morton and Willett then proceeded to add 193 in quick time for the fifth wicket. Morton, the Leewards captain, faced 134 balls and hit 16 fours in his unbeaten 122, his second century of the season, before he declared the innings after Willett fell for 90.
Windward Islands 267 for 3 (Sammy 65*, Smith 58, Bascombe 54) trail Guyana 396 (Dowlin 176*, Chanderpaul 78, Shillingford 5 for 115) by 129 runs Windward Islands rode on a 101-run opening stand between half-centurions Devon Smith and Miles Bascombe, and Darren Sammy's unbeaten 65, to post 267 for 3 in response to Guyana's 396 on the second day at the Providence Stadium. Smith got Windwards off to a rollicking start with a run-a-ball 58 that included seven fours and a six before he was dismissed by Travis Dowlin. Windwards soon lost their second wicket when Bascombe, after bringing up his second first-class fifty, was bowled by Zaheer Mohammad. Andre Fletcher then scored a quickfire 29 before he was trapped by legspinner Davendre Bishoo. But Sammy and Liam Sebastian (42 not out) steadied the innings with an unbroken 100-run fourth-wicket stand. In a curious situation, Guyana resumed their innings without the services of Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who was unbeaten on 78 after the first day. Chanderpaul was reported to have left for a West Indies Players' Association function in Trinidad and was hence deemed retired out. Meanwhile, Dowlin, who was resuming on 121, went on to make a career-best unbeaten 176, scoring 65 of the 84 runs made by Guyana on the second day. He added 50 for the fourth wicket with Gajanand Singh, who had taken Chanderpaul's place at the crease, before Guyana lost their last six wickets for the addition of 34 as Sammy claimed three late-order wickets and offspinner Shane Shillingford took a brace to complete his five-for. © Cricinfo
