Tasmania v MCC, Launceston, December, 16-19, 1932

MCC crush Tasmania

MCC won by an innings and 126 runs - Scorecard

On the opening day MCC scored 395 for 3. Wyatt and Sutcliffe made 86 for the first wicket, and then the Yorkshireman and Pataudi carried the total to 193. At this point Sutcliffe left for a very fine century, his fourth of the tour, which included two 6's and six 4's. Pataudi batted freely, powerful driving on both sides of the wicket bringing him most of his runs. At the end of the day Ames and Paynter hit the tired bowlers unmercifully.

On the second morning both completed good hundreds, Ames hitting ten boundaries, and Paynter one 6 and twelve 4's. Badcock and Burrows made a stand of 93 for the first Tasmanian wicket, but no one else did anything apart from Putman, who hit out desperately and made nearly all his runs off Mitchell. In the follow-on Badcock played sound, defensive cricket for two-and-a-half hours.
