Profile
Aaron Nye stormed into the Pura Cup with a fine 102 on debut against New South Wales in 2003-04 as he attempted to upstage the final state game of Steve and Mark Waugh. Despite such an assured entry, he added only three first-class games and eight limited-overs matches until being called more regularly last season. There were four Pura Cup appearances, with two useful half-centuries, and he started the one-day series well before losing his momentum, finishing with 177 runs in nine outings. Nye's offspin played a crucial part in the 2006-07 FR Cup final victory, with 3 for 55 at the MCG, and he chipped in with a handful of victims last summer. The winner of the Peter Burge Medal in Brisbane grade cricket in 2002-03 and 2006-07, Nye's club efforts helped him regain his contract status with the Bulls. Nye, a handy golfer, has enjoyed the privilege of caddying for his mate Adam Scott. Peter English August 2008
