Profile
Another seam bowler off the Durham production line who represented England Under-19s, Mark Davies has been badly let down in injuries especially in 2004 and 2005 when he was taking wickets for fun (50 at 18.76 and 47 at 15.55 respectively). In 2004 he was the first player to 50 wickets and was nine clear of his nearest rival when injury struck, yet he still won four of the six prizes going at the counties end of year awards. He spent much of 2006 on the sidelines as his back problems struck again, pending three months in a body brace, but returned in 2007 to help Durham to second place in the County Championship while also spending a month on loan at Northamptonshire. He only played 10 matches but collected 26 wickets at less than 30 and, form and fitness permitting, will hope to fill the void left by Ottis Gibson's departure to coach with England.
