Pomersbach breaks collarbone

July 13, 2008

Western Australian batsman Luke Pomersbach has broken his collarbone after a surfing accident. Pomersbach, who won the 2008 Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year award, crashed shoulder-first into a sandbar, according to an AAP report.

He had surgery last weekend and will be unable to hold a bat or run for up to six weeks. However, he is expected to be fit in time for the start of the Australian domestic season in October.

Pomersbach made his Twenty20 debut for Australia in 2007 when he was called up as a late replacement for Brad Hodge. He scored 743 runs at 61.91 during the 2007-08 Pura Cup season and scored 152 at a strike-rate of 153 for Kings XI Punjab during the Indian Premier League.
